Hello to Surf Caster Out There !!!!

The month of June is the worth month for me this year, may be due to the weather change or the nature have come to the end we dont and will never understand, but for the pass one month I went out with friends for fishing either to Perhentian Island, Redang Island or along the shore of Kuala Terengganu there not much catch that I can up load to my blog or in other words to be proud off, I have also mise out few fishing Tournement becouse of so many wedding that I have to attend during the school holiday break. Any way I would like to share one of my video collection from the You Tube on the Surf Fishing in New York City, hope you guys enjoy it.

Surf Casting - Batu Burok Beach Mei 9, 2009

This two week I'm too busy with my site assignment and at last today I manage to free my self in front of my laptop to up load this picture of the Surf Casting competition at Pantai Batu Burok, Kuala Terenganu recently, Bro Aziz, our P'lekong Jorang Geng members manage to be at 13th places with his catch "Ikan Todak" sword fish, he took back a cash of RM200.00

The next day on the 10 of Mei, another competition was held at Kelulut Beach, Marang Terengganu but I don't have a change to joing them and below is some of the picture collections during the competitions at Pantai Batu Burok.

SURF FISHING COMPETITIONS ~ Teluk Ketapang Beach

With the conjunctions to the RTM Terengganu Carnival Week, RTM had organized the Surf Fishing Competitions at Pantai Teluk Ketapang, Terengganu on the 25th of April 2009. Lots of anglers came down from all over the district and state, the winner is from a bro from Kuantan who is know by the nick name of "Tok Aji" with his catch of a Sting Ray weight 15.6 kg. He manage to bring back RM10,000.00. Congratulations Tok Aji. Happy Surf Fishing

We all always in the blessing of Allah, and Alham'dullilah till today we are in good health and enjoying our life with our work's and activities either with family or friends, this weekend I spend a day with friends at Pengkalang Ah Hock near the Batu Rakit Beach, Kuala Terengganu. This beach is just a walking distand from my Mother in Law house, I used to work with one of the Resort here (Gem Beach Resort) for almost 5 years and this is one of my fevourate beach too, everytime I go to this beach I never mise, either we catch a small fishes or a mega size. This time I would like to share the video and picture of the golden Trivoli(Gerong Belang) that I and few friends cought on that day..Cheers happy Surf Fishing.

By the moment that I'm posting this blog, Bro Alias call me and inform me that 4 Ebek (Jack Fish) and 6 Golden Trivoli was landed by that englers including one Ebek (Jack Fish) was cought by him. A day before( 16.04.09) Lan & his friends has landed 4 Ray (Pari) between 4 t0 6 kg, 2 Ebek & 2 Gerong and the biggest catch is the Stinf Ray (Pari) 21kg by Zainal and I belive this beach going to be full of anglers within this week.

I also want some fish.....!!!!!

SURF FISHING ~ Kelulut Beach, Marang.

Kuala Terengganu East Coast of Malaysia was known as a State with the longest Beach in Malaysia, every week, from Kemaman till Kuala Besut, there were always an associations, Club, NGO or Govement bodys will organize the Surf Fishing Competitions, Last week with the conjuntions to the Kelulut Beach Fastival, another compertitions was aoganized by goverment department, The winner is a local heroes HANIF, from Padang Nanas,Batu rakit who tooked back RM10,000 & a Motorbike. this is the biggest catch that I ever see after seven years of attending any suft fishing compertitions in Terenganu, it take him almost 2 hours to bring in 17.400kg King Fish or known as Haruan Tasek to the local people, second place was a 15.105kg of Sting Ray (Pari) and third was a 14.055kg of a Sting Ray too.Iwas told almost 2,000 anglers take part in this competitions in the radius of 5 kilometer From Buai Resort till Taman Semarak, kelulut Marang.

Surf Fishing - Fishing Competition Mangkuk organize by JKR Terengganu

On the March 28, 2009 JKR Terengganu once again had organize a yearly event fishing competition at Mangkuk Village, Penarek, Setiu Terengganu, it was a very good respond by the anglers, the winner take home RM7000.00 cash, runner up RM5,000 and third place RM2,000 & many others lucky draw was been given away by the organizer.

Most of the anglers commented that a time that be given for the competitions is to short but anyway the competitions is really goes well even though that not much catch on that day. our friends Bro Azhar manage to take back RM2,000 after winning third place in this competitions, congratulations Bro Azhar.

The Winner is Siakap putih (Baramundi) 0.950grms, Runner-up Sembilang (Cat Fish) 0.940grms, third place Belukang (Cat Fish) 0.810grms and forth place is Kuku (Sweet lips) 0.610grms.

Anyway to all anglers out there, it always be another day because the next tournament is at Marang on the April 11, 2009 - GOOD LUCK

SURF FISHING ~ BATU RAKIT BEACH

This weekend I went for Surf Fishing at Batu Rakit Beach, The locations is in-front (opposite) of the DIGI Tower, as usual many surf casters are trying their luck especially after the heavy storm heat the shore last week. Not a bad catch for the weakend with 6 sting ray ( 4 Tuka & 2 Pari).

Surf Fishing
Surf fishing is the saltwater equivalent of fishing from the shore of a freshwater lake or the bank of a river. It is a method of fishing that provides access to a wide variety of fish species, often in close proximity to home. For many people, it is the most convenient or only a place to pursue their hobby, especially if they don’t own or have access to a boat.
Surf fishing is popular and widely practiced along the shore throughout the year, anglers will be found on beaches along the oceans,harbors and bays.

Why People Surf Fish
There are a number of reasons why people find surf fishing to be a good alternative to other types of fishing. One important reason is that, because many beaches are owned and managed by public government agencies, there is good public access to these areas. Another factor that brings anglers to the surf is the fact that there is no need to own a boat to catch fish. This saves money and time, particularly in the areas of boat maintenance and travel. Some fishermen do not like to fish from a boat, preferring to keep their feet on relatively solid ground.
Some anglers choose to surf from the shore because they feel there is greater social contact and camaraderie among fishermen who congregate on the beach and better opportunities for enjoying the surrounding sights and sounds of the surf. For many, it is a more peaceful fishing environment. Still others are simply attracted by the challenge presented by conditions that seems to give every advantage to the prey, rather than to the angler.

When People Surf Fish
Without a few exceptions, surf fishing is possible at any time, night or day, throughout the year, regardless of weather. However, the majority of surf fishing is conducted around sunrise and sunset from January to December If Monsoon permitted (December,January & February). While many experienced surf fishermen claim that overcast days are best, it is likely the greatest number of fishermen descend on the beaches on warm, sunny days, particularly weekends. Most knowledgeable surf anglers seek times just before high tide, especially when that occurs in the morning around dawn.

Species Available
While species availability varies from region to region and season to season, surf fishing usually gives anglers access to a large selection of fish. Casting from shore can bring in species ranging from more numerous small fish to large trophy fish.

Many surf fishermen go to the shore to catch small fish up to 5 or 10 pounds, perhaps just enough for a nice dinner.
More experienced surf anglers may try to increase the challenge by seeking larger sport fish, though most also provide good table fare. Species in the 10 to 100 pound.

Equipment and Casting
Generally, tackle selection for surf fishing is a matter of personal choice and fishing objectives. On any given beach, you are likely to find light, medium and heavy tackle. In some instances, the conditions of the surf will determine what kind of tackle is selected. The distance necessary to cast bait to productive areas will also influence the type of tackle chosen. Those casting long distances with heavy bait will usually use longer rods such as a 13-foot model. However, it is not uncommon for anglers to have success with 6 and 8-foot rods.
Because of wave action, it is usually necessary to use a heavy sinker up to 4 to 6 ounces or more to ensure that bait holds to the bottom. Wave action also determines line weight. Most commonly, anglers use 15- to 30-pound line, though the range can be quite large, especially on the heavier side.
In most surf fishing situations, the key to the success is casting distance. Therefore it is important that anglers learn appropriate casting techniques that allow one to cast far out to the water. It is not uncommon to need to cast from 50 to 150 yards. More experienced surf fishermen are capable of casting 250 yards or more.

Dedicated surfcasters usually possess an array of terminal and other tackle, with fishing rods and reels of different lengths and actions, and lures and baits of different weights and capabilities. Depending on fishing conditions and the type of fish they are trying to catch, such surfcasters tailor bait and terminal tackle to rod and reel and the size and species of fish targeted. Reels and other equipment need to be constructed so they resist the corrosive and abrasive effects of salt and sand.
